These days I am reading this book 'Producing & Directing the short film and video', especially the part named 'What is Non-Linear'.

The chapter is about Nonlinear editing in technical area. It talked about digital nonlinear editing, nonlinear off-line editing and film-style editing.

The nonlinear appeared changed the film editing, you can start whenever you want, move shots around, and change their length without having to produce generation after generation of dupes.
