Comments of Malena

Tonight I have watched an Italian romantic film named Malena, which was directed by Monica Bellucci in 2000. There are two main characters in this film, one is the young boy, another one is the lady that much elder than the young boy. The lady lost her husband in the earlier years because of the war, so the life of her is much worse than before. And she is heaten and fighted by other women at last because she is a prostitute and she seduces other women's husbands. From the beginning to the last, the young boy crushes the elder lady and he follows her by bicycle, even he steals her washed underwear so as to masturbates by imaging he is making love with Malena.

As for the film, many flashforward are used, everytime the young boy see Malena, the shot changes to the boy is kissing the lady even doing sex with her. But after that, instead of this kind of shot is the young boy is watching the lady who is doing the housework far from her house. In my opinion, a good comparison between imagination and reality is displayed by the film because of using the flashforward. It shows that the young boy loves the lady so much but he still remains in fantasy and imagination, maybe one-sided love is better. In 66min 48sec, the young boy tries to get closer to the lady but failed, the lady only walks passed-by. In 103min 20sec, it is the first time that the young boy talked to the lady and touched her hand lightly. Comparing to his imagination, it maybe a great contrast, and this maybe the opinion of mine that why flashforward shots are greatly used in this film. In my opinion, this is a great example of flashforward film.
